View of the mudflats in the enclosed bay. To the right of the trowel (see close-up) is a living seaweed colony attached to a pebble. Behind this is the erosional groove (a kind of tool mark) created as it dragged along the muddy bottom during transport by a tidal current.

  • Was the object transported during the ebb or flood tide?
  • What was the direction of transport?
