• Characteristic structures are large cross beds, super mature texturally and compositionally, well sorted and rounded sediments, grains have frosted faces.

• Large scale cross beds- The cross beds are formed from the preserved lee slope. As the dune migrates forward the lee slope is preserved and this is the part that is then seen is cross section, as below.

Blowout

They are circular or elliptical depressions, a few metres across, formed by deflation of the sand. Higher wind speeds can dry the sand and this makes it more susceptible to movement.
