A close-up of the core of the structure shown in STR-02. The sandstone layers (brown) maintain a fairly uniform thickness around the nose of the fold. In contrast, the shale unit (black) thickens considerably in the core of the antiformal structure. This demonstrates a difference in behaviour between competent (sandstone) and incompetent (shale) materials. Scale: Thick sandstone bed near base of outcrop is ca. 1.5 m thick. Grid reference: 977
