A surface consisting of slate, viewed from the ESE, i.e. perpendicular to the strike of the slaty cleavage (which lies in the plane of the photograph). Lithological banding appears to be sub-horizontal. Running from top right to bottom left across the surface are crenulations, the surface expression of a crenulation cleavage which has deformed the earlier slaty cleavage.
