A strongly deformed zone in the region of the fault which separates the Palaeozoic rocks from the metamorphosed rocks to the south. Strong shearing had resulted in interleaving of dark phyllite (unit 15) with lighter coloured limestone (unit 21). Mobilisation of silica during deformation has caused quartz veining.

Scale: hammer shaft is 350 mm long .
